Upcoming Duwamish River events

DRCC has lots of events coming up to get involved in the Duwamish valley, please keep in touch.
We have kayak trips planned with Alki Kayaks (next one is 7/30, 6-8pm), the 4th Annual River Festival coming up on August 23, 2008, and boat tours in September. Please visit our web site to learn more about these fun events.

Several of our 'Early Action' cleanup sites, and the Riverwide cleanup will be moving along this fall; more details on that soon. In late August, we will also be showing off our Vision Map of the Duwamish that many of you helped create this winter and spring. Come by our booth at the River Festival to check it out, or request a copy through our web site.

In yesterday's Times, there was an article about the cement plants in the Duwamish, regarding Mercury emissions. Read the article here: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2008069635_cement24m0.html

Also, one of our founding members, the Duwamish Tribe, has been building their Longhouse and Cultural Center on W. Marginal Way, across from Herring House Park. They are scheduled for opening in November 2008, with many music, art, environmental, and community events planned. If you haven't driven by in a while, please go see how it's coming along!

We also have a new web site -- www.duwamishcleanup.org designed by Brett at Atomic Design Lab -- he did a fantastic job.
