Community Cultural Center

Dina Johnson at Highland Park Action Committee posted up a terrific summary of last night's community vision meeting we posted about for the planned White Center Community Cultural Center.  Thanks to West Seattle Blog for the tip.

The roots of this project go back several years; local grassroots leaders organized by The Trusted Advocates (West Seattle Herald profile here) identified the need early in their work while members of the congregation of St James Church asked the Synod to help repurpose the facility.  Over the past year, The Trusted Advocates, the Northwest Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and the White Center Community Development Association, and several community members have been working to build a more detailed vision for the project, with help from Delridge Neighborhoods Development Association, the Pomegranate Center, and Environmental Works.

Last night, the parties literally signed off on a vision and now will be getting to work to make it happen.  If you'd like to be involved, you can contact one of the groups above, or sign up for the group below.

Stay posted to this blog for further announcements about how to get involved.
