King County has announced plans to cut ALL of their community health and human services funding over the next three years. How can we respond?
Training Opportunity:
Communicating the Value of Human Services
Training for human service providers, public information officers, media coordinators, employees, volunteers and advocates.
Join us for this dynamic and informative training where you will learn how to create positive messages about your agency and increase awareness of the need for services, your programs and successes.
This FREE training is not to be missed!
Session 1: Targeting your messages
      • Developing powerful and relevant messages
      • Identifying endorsers, allies and key publics
      • Understanding and making the most of aligned interests
      • Activating support
Session 2: Communicating through the media
      • Finding good news stories to carry your messages
      • Understanding the news media
      • Finding the right reporter and developing the pitch
      • Working with reporters to get the story right
      • Remarketing good stories
The media training session will be done in small groups to give participants practice in writing and delivering pitches. Please bring story ideas about services that may be impacted by the County's budget shortfall and projected cuts to human services.
